Description

Also known as Java Plum or Jamun. Small oval fruit, dark purple to black when ripe. Juicy pulp with an astringent, sweet-sour taste. Leaves are used for tea.

History and Origins

Jambolan originated in India and Southeast Asia. Brought to Brazil by the Portuguese, it became a common urban tree, often found in parks and streets due to its shade.
