History and Origins
Native to the coastal Atlantic Forest of Brazil. The name comes from Tupi meaning "bud that sprouts", referring to how it grows on the trunk. It is currently endangered in the wild.

Cambuca is considered one of the tastiest Brazilian fruits, often compared to mango and papaya mixed with jabuticaba. It is a "Slow Food" Ark of Taste passenger.
