Description

Tropical fruit with thin brown shell and translucent flesh. Sweet, musky flavor similar to Lychee but milder.

Rich in Vitamin C (84 mg/100g). Used to reduce stress and improve sleep in Eastern traditions.

History and Origins

Longan originated in Southern China and Southeast Asia. Related to Lychee and Rambutan. Its name means "Dragon Eye" because the shelled fruit resembles an eyeball (white flesh with dark seed).

Fun Facts

The dried fruit is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a relaxation tonic. It is less juicy than Lychee but sweeter and muskier.
